About CCA Community Christian Assembly was founded by Charles Andrews in December of 1955. In February of 1955 Pastor & Mrs. Robert Williams felt the call of God to take this church in South Tacoma. The Church was then called Southside Tabernacle, Inc. My Husband's father (Happy Williams) was faithful and saw great and mighty things accomplished for the Lord at our church at 56th and Thompson. God called my father-in-law home on March 9, 1968. The Board of Elders with the congregation's approval then asked my husband, James G. Williams, to fill the Pastorate the following week. James served with his father as Youth Pastor for 11 years and then as Pastor for 39 years. He was a Pastor with a passion to win souls for the Kingdom of God. For many years while ministering at CCA he did community service by working at the Pierce County jail and Sheriff's Department. He started there counseling inmates to help change their lives. He also started the chaplaincy program for the Sheriff's Department. He rode with the patrols, counseled officers and responded to families in need. My husband, Pastor James, went to receive his reward in heaven on December 8th 2006, at which time, I assumed the Pastorate for our church. Our Church, even though it has relocated three times, has the same heartbeat. Our goal is to reach souls and change lives for our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. With God's help we hope to reach out a hand of support to our community, and share the good news - Jesus is alive and well to meet all our needs by His riches in Glory. It is great to be part of a Church where friendship and love for God are practiced together, whether it is a Sunday School Class, Bible Study/Prayer Service, Youth Ministries, or a Sunday Worship Celebration Service. You can always feel the warmth expressed by our C.C.A. Family. There is never a stranger in our midst. As Pastor, it is easy to be a Leader when God's Word is the basis for everything we do as a church. In a world filled with confusion, God's Word is a light that shines through the darkness to bring order out of confusion. Thank you for being part of a great family. We are a church that truly believes in ministry. Our desire from the very beginning has been to create and birth life-giving, effective ministries which bring the lost to the saving faith in Jesus Christ, teach the Believer how to walk in the fullness of God's calling for them, and to plug every believer into an effective place of service in the body, so that the body benefits and grows from the wide variety of gifts God has brought into our midst. We truly believe in the concept that every member is a minister, and that God has a special plan for every life, regardless of past circumstances, failures, and difficulties. Community Christian Assembly exists to fulfill the commission given by our Lord Jesus Christ, to go and make disciples at home and throughout the world. To achieve these goals we are committed to a life of worship, ministry to, and training of fellow believers. Furthermore, our aim is to strengthen the spiritual lives and character of our congregation through the provision of a stable and balanced spiritual environment. To this end, the leadership constantly strives to heed and give oversight according to the whole counsel of God revealed in the Scriptures. At the very heart of the ministries of CCA is the desire to be a center of love, acceptance and forgiveness within our community. Therefore the ministries of CCA will be conducted based on our desire to minister the forgiveness of Christ to the unconverted, maturity for the believer, restoration for the fallen and compassion toward all. It is our sincere hope that as you enter through the doors of CCA and experience the warmth of God's embrace that you will find your end of a search for a friendly church. |
